Feel Inspiration from Zombies...

Zombies are a terrifying idea. When a film is watched where a hoard of zombies tackle someone and tear them to shreds, I'm sure many are not only disgusted, but terrified. This is especially true for those who believe a Zombie Apocalypse may be right around the corner. There are a variety of ways an apocalypse can begin to end the world. We all have seen it on films, and many of them are so close to real, we can feel it.

Zombies are often painted with a disgusting appearance, snarling and blood dripping from a hungry mouth. Their skin, rotting and peeling away to reveal underlying organs and muscles. Whatever the helpless victim throws at these beasts, they knock down and continue toward their prey.

I offer another view of zombies: heroic. These hungry little monsters are going forward with what their bodies have been programed to do: feed on the flesh of the living. Have you ever seen or heard of a zombie walking away, defeated, or scared? Hell no! They move forward and knock down anything in their path. Oh, no trespassing? Screw that! We're hungry!

It's this simple concept that drives me, personally, forward in my goals of bringing zombie/horror-related activities to our area. It's a constant, uphill battle, but it is one with great rewards in the end.

I also believe in a "Below the Surface" attitude. Many see the word "Zombie" and are instantly turned away, without asking any details about what it is we are actually doing. Our events benefit not only charities, but our community as well. Many people have met their friends, spouses, etc. at our events. Zombies CAN bring people together! It's a love for the genre, a love for the films, and a continuing love for our community.

The Zombie Prom is coming up in two months. I'm extremely proud to mention the following businesses who are standing behind this event and are supporting us. Please, take the time to visit their websites or business and thank them. These companies have truly shown us their true colors.
